The downhauler is simple to operate…thread the downhaul rope through one hole, thread it back through the second hole, then loop around to the opposite side and thread it under the rope...pulling the tool with hands at either end then tensions to let you apply downhaul to your sail.
From a comfortable seating position, pull with both hands applied, and with one foot on the mast base, apply downhaul.
This process protects your hands from injury and also prolongs the life of the rope too.
